Position Savvy vs. Truth Hungry?
“Ignorance is bliss”, for long the idiom has said
So bliss it was decided to fill the people’s head.
But I heard about a Man who said that more would satisfy
And with it He provided out of infinite supply…
He said that: “Truth will make you free”
This thought to be free clicked with the desire buried deep inside of me;
Truth was the very longing I found hidden within myself
But for long it’d been set aside, ignored upon the shelf;
The pursuit of Truth has a great cost--or so I’m told
The cost of Truth demands that everything be sold
And many settled for shards and glimpses but didn’t prize it
Many held just a portion of the truth and didn’t realize it
They set aside the Truth for esteemed position
For the reward they prized they found inside human recognition
But Truth beheld that liberates may cost you a promotion
You may lose things and friends and every pre-conceived notion
But the "bliss" you find from being ignorant and left aloof
Is but a shadow of the greatest pleasure: knowing Truth. |
